my description of the hacker exercise

I think the hacker exercises are very helpful for me to write correct and good sentences. On my opinion, good sentence is the basic foundation of a good essay. The first of all, we need to write correct sentences, correct sentence means that the sentence not only just needs correct words but also needs correct grammar. A sentence is made by subject, predicate and object. And there are active verbs and passive verbs. We need to realize what is the difference between these two kinds of verbs. A correct sentence can not state that this sentence is a perfect and interesting sentence. Usually we need to change the organization of the sentence to make it become more complex. If the whole essay is consisted by simple sentences, the reader will feel the essay is boring even though there has no fault for your sentences. The hacker exercises have different exercises for every specialized area. For instant, there is individual exercise for active and passive verbs, we can realize the difference between these two kinds of verbs by doing the exercise, just like the exercise 8. And there also has individual exercise to help you organize better sentence, just like exercise 14. If the sentence is dangling is important to show it the sentence is good. If the sentence is not dangling, the reader will be confusing about the meaning of the sentence you want to express, the exercise 12 tells me how to make my sentence more dangling. Through doing the hacker exercise, I know how to organize my sentence to make it more better.

Dangling Modifiers

A dangling modifier is when the meaning of a sentence is left "dangling" to mean something else because something is left out.

Examples:
  • Reaching the heart, a bypass was performed on the severely blocked arteries.
  • Reaching the heart, the surgeon performed a bypass on the severely blocked arteries.
    • The second one is correct, because the person performing the action is named in the subject of the sentence so the opening phrase doesn't dangle.

  • Determined to learn to read, Wanda was delighted to discover that there was an adult literacy program in her apartment building.
  • Determined to learn to read, an adult literacy program in Wanda's apartment was just what she had been looking for.
    • The first one is correct, because the subject of the sentence names the actor.

What did people say in topic " who am I"?

The first day, teacher lets students to decribe themselves, he lets students write something about this topic. The students shows their own ideas about this topic, there are many different definitions about this. Most of students define it from their age, name and goal. In my opinion, i think it depends on an attitude. If you have a good expectation on yourself, you will control yourself all the time. And you will have more confidence.
