           The education topic always be one of the most popular topics in the whole world. I am a Chinese student, I receive the Chinese education for about thirteen years, and I get a chance go abroad to receive American education. I have been America for more than one year. Absolutely, I understand some information about American education. There are many similarities between American education and Chinese education, however, there are also some differences, maybe these differences depend on the differences of population and culture. During this essay, I will main compare their educational system for different stages of age, student life and education form, home education and the college campuses.

          The Chinese education system is a state-run system. It is run by the ministry of education. All of citizens are required to attend school for at least nine years. The government provides primary education for nine years, starting at age six or seven, and the secondary education is from ages 12 to 18. The American education is mainly provided by the public sector, it is supported by three government system: federal, state, and local. The child education is compulsory.  The ages for compulsory education are different for different states. It begins from ages five to eight and ends from ages fourteen to eighteen.

          Both of China and America have a vast and varied school system. There is much kind of schools, such as: preschools, kind gardens, primary schools, middle school, colleges and universities, and it also has the specific school for blind and deaf people. Even though both of these two countries separate the education to three levels: elementary school, middle school and high school. There are differences between grades of schools. American elementary education generally refers to one year of preschool to the fifth grade. American middle school usually starts from the sixth grade to eighth grade. It includes three years. And the high school is from ninth grade to twelfth grade, a total of four years. But most of places of China, the elementary school totally has six years. The first three grades as the elementary levels, from the fourth grade to sixth grade,  it is the development stage. Both of Chinese middle school and high school take students three years. These six years are important, it effects if students can enter the college and universities.

                                                                                                   

I think the student life and education form is different for Chinese education and American education. From the elementary school to the high school, Chinese students have a lot of stress between these 12 years. Start at the age 6, Chinese students face a lot of homework and exams. They also are required to study many courses. They includes:  moral life, moral and social, Chinese, mathematics, English, sports and health, science, music, art and IT. Even though these courses can develop the ability of students, the school always pays attention on two courses: Chinese and mathematics. During other courses, we do not have specific professional teachers to teaches us. When students enter middle school, they feel more stress. Students need to learn more courses, and they are required to master more courses. If they can enter the high school depends on if they get a good grade in the middle school. The three years of high school are the most important for Chinese student, they need to study the courses very well, because there is a exam named “college entrance examination”. This exam is the only way for most of students to get the right to enter university. There is a very small parts of students can enter university without this exam, it depends on if they get a reward for some academic competition, such as: mathematic competition. In America, the students feel less stress than Chinese students. In the elementary school, the students learn the knowledge depends on the teachers, even though they have the textbook, the teacher do not accord the textbook to teach students. It is different with China, Chinese students learn the same knowledge. And they attend the same exams. Chinese students prefer to learn by rote, but American students prefer to develop their innovation. So American students have better abilities to innovate new things.

          In America, there has an education system called “home education” which state that students can accept education at home by their parents. But the government will not confess the academic diplomas unless the parents submit an application to the district government and hand a detailed teaching program. There is a date to show that only 1.7 percent of children receive education in this way. The parents who choose this education way must have a strong responsibility to their children, these parents think that home education is better for designing most suitable courses for students’ individual strengths and weaknesses. And they also think home education can avoid their children touch the negative social pressures of school like bullying, crime, etc.

          In my opinion, the college campuses must be the most different between Chinese education and American education. First of all, the entrance way into university is different. The American students also need to take a test and their scores will help them to determine which school they will get into. But this test is not the only area to go into good universities. Secondly, the time and the way they determine their majors are different. In China, after they get the grade of college entrance examination, they need to finish a sheet, they need to choose the schools they want to go into, and the major they interested in. Then the schools determine if they want to accept this student. When the students are accepted by the school, it is very difficult for them to change their major during the next study semesters. It is different in America, the school will let the students know if they are accepted by the school first, and then the students can choose a major. But it is not the necessary for students choose their major at the beginning of the study. Before I come to America, I have accepted more than one year education in Chinese university. As the information I know, in China, before I get into university, I must determine which major I want to study. And most of students will according their parents’ advices to choose their major even though they do not like this major. Because we need to think about our future life, we need to choose a major for us can get a job easier. We do not understand what knowledge we can get for every major. But we I arrive America, I find it is very different with China, before I study the specific courses, I need not to determine which major I will study, even though when I have studied specific courses, I can change my major. For example, now I choose accounting as my major, I will take accounting courses in the next semester, if I find accounting is not fit for me, I will change my major, and it is easy. And Chinese students have less vocation time than American student. For the summer vocation, the Chinese students just have a month and a half, but American students have three months for their summer vocation. And both of Chinese students and American students have about one month for their winter vocation.

            There are some similarities for Chinese college students and American students. Just like the entertainment. Both of these students like music, and most of them like to watch a movie, shopping and play games during the weekend. But  there are also several differences. There are many parties in American college life, American students prefer to hold many parties to relax themselves and make many new friends. Drinking is the indispensable part for a party. In china, a part of students also want to go to a bar, most of students prefer to do other things. Another difference between those two different college education, it is easier for Chinese students graduate from the college, Chinese students feel less stress after they enter the college, America colleges are strict for students, it is hard for them to graduate from school if they do not study hard. So American students always learn the specific knowledge better than Chinese students. But Chinese students have better foundation knowledge because of the 12 years study before the campuses education.

           In my conclusion, both of American education and Chinese education have advantages and disadvantages, Chinese students have a better foundation of knowledge than American students, but American students have a good elaborative faculty. If these two countries can get a better education combination, I think it is good for both of these two countries’ educated development.

Difference education form between America and China

Topic: compare the American education form and Chinese education form

Introduction
     Current society, the education topic has became the most popular topic, people pay more attention on education. Every country constructs policies to support every children receive the education. But the education form in each country is different. During this essay, I will introduce the differences between American education form and Chinese education form. 

     Introduce these two education form simply
          1.  Chinese education
          2.  American education

      We need pay more attention on education, and construct more policies to support every body can receive the good education, includes the people who have no money to send their children to schools. Every education form has their benefits and disadvantages, we can communicate with other countries to  improve our education form. It will be good for the education of the world.

Comparing the interview two and one

Compared to my third interview with my first interview and the second interview, I think they are similarly. During my third interview, I also use the paper and the pen to record what my interviewee said. I think the most different is that my third interview allowed me to record what her said. During my first interview and my second interview, the interviewees minded me to record what thy said. So in my third interview, I can write down the transcription by listening to the record. I think this transcription is the most satisfied one in these three interviews. I also choose the liabrary as my interviewing place. For my second interview, the feedback is not good. Because the second interview’s transcription has a different form with other two interviews. In my third interview, I recover the form of the transcription. The form of transcription is the same with my first interview. It is written down by conversation. My third interviewer is one of my first interviewer’s friends. So I feel more relaxed during this interview. And in this interview, I also choose the Korea as my interviewing country, it is the same country with my first interview. Because I have had some understand about Korea, I have many topics what I can talk with my interviewer. And I choose some topics that I really want to understand more, such as: food, holiday,etc. Also, I added some new questions during this interview, because I want to learn more culture about Korea. For instance, I asked some questions about their government, through this interview, I know the government of Korea is democratic government. I find that even both of China and Korea eat rice, but the rice is different, the rice in Korea is heavier than China’s.

Actually, I am not satisfied with my second interview, because the time is so crowed for me to prepare the questions. For this interview, I have interviewed one person from Korea before, so I have experiences, and I understand Korea more better now, so I can find many interesting topic when I talk with my third interviewer.

The Korea’s full name is “The Republic Of Korea”. It is a small country of the edge of Asia[1]. It is founded in 1948[2]. It is located in the east of the world. Korea is consist by two part: north of Korea and south of Korea. We always talk about the south of Korea, the number of population of south of Korea is 48.87 million(by 2012)[1]. And the capital of Korea is Seoul. Korean people is enjoyed in doing sports. They have a variety of sporting activities and games. Korea is one of the countries which had hold Olympic Games and the FIFA World Cup. The 24^th Summer Olympic Games were hold in Seoul, from September17 to October 2,1988[4]. The same as Korea’s sport, Korea’s economic also shas a quick rapid, because the government has many successful policies, in the 2012, the Korean economy has a growth rate of 6.2 percent[3].

The third interview

Inrerview preparation
During the last interview, I decide to interview another korean, because I want to understand more about Korea. During the first intereview, I prepared the information is not so good. Before I take this interview, I prepare many questions, they include the questions that I interviewd in the first interview. Because I want to make sure if it is correct.
I send a message to Yoon, ask her if she mind that to introduce one of her korean friend to me for doing my last interview, she is pleasure to help me, and she tells me that they are in liabrary, I can go to find them. Her friend’s name is Piao, a pretty girl. And she is very nice. She does not mind me to record our conversation by using my telephone. So we do the interview at 9:00pm, April 2 in the liabrary.
During this interview, I pay more attention at the food and holidays of Korea. And I add several questions like their government and how is her feeling about SCSU.

Interview Report
Piao is from Seoul. It is the capital of Korea. Becaude she is from a big city, she understands more about Korea, she tells me when they build Korea, and tell me the situation about currently korean government, she tells me that they have many revolution in south korea.
And in the first interview, I think the food in Korea is similar to China. So I do not pay more attention at food. During this interview, Piao tells me that the korea food is very different with chinese food. Even though both of us eat rice, the rice is different, and they prefer to eat rice as their breakfast, but in china, noodles always as our breakfast.

Country report
The full name of Korea is “Republic of Korea”, it is located in Northeast of Asia. There are ocean around three sides of Korea: the east, the south and the west. And Korea is an emerging developed country. The legal land scope of korea is the entire Korean Peninsula and the islands around the Korean Peninsula. The area of Korea is the 4/9 of Korean Peninula’s area. Its area is 99,600 km2. Since the 1960s, the Korean government implemented a new economic policy, it made the economic of Korea had a large development. This new policy made Korea become a medium developed country by one of the world’s poorest country.

The number of population of Korea is 50,087,000. (the end of January 2011). The main race is Korean. The number of population of Korean is the 99 percent of the whole population of Korea. It is a single nation state. The main language of Korea is Korean language. Most of the  pronounctiation of this language are from China. 10 percent of the pronounciation is from America. (It is the same with my first interview)

Seoul
The capital of Korea, and also it is the biggest city of Korea. The population of Seoul has reached 230 million. The pink pictures show us the Seoul’s location.

And the economic of Seoul is developed, such as there is a building in Seoul, it include many important economic activities during this building.

Me: Hello, my name is lianlin,l, how are you?

Piao: Good, and you?

Me: Good, thank you. How is your class going?

Piao: it is good.

Me: I know you have so many homework to do, let’s finsh the interview quickly, can we start now?

Piao: It is does not matter, let’s start it.

Me: Would you mind me to record our conversation by using my telephone? Because I am afraid that I can not write down all of your answers.

Piao: Yeah, you can do that.

Me: Ok, these are my main questions, you can check them first.

Piao: Ok…   eh, I think I have confusing about the first question.

Me: Oh, I just want to know what kind of government of your country. How do you think about your country’s government?

Piao: Our counry’s government is democracy. The history of our country’s democracry government is short. It develops too fast. It is on the balance now.

Me: Are there any different with US government?

Piao: Yeah, compare with US government and other countries’ governments, our country’s government’s history is very short, and it is always connect with our country’s economic.

Me: How long your country build the democracy government?

Piao: I do not know very much. Let me check it …   I think maybe from 1945, Korea got free from Japan. The government developes fast, now, we can blaim the president.

Me: So, how many years your country change a president? Four? Or it just depends on how nice that one president is?

Piao: No, there has policy for changing the president, we will change a president in 4 years, no, it is five years.

Me: is there any typical days for a child in your country?

Piao: Oh, it is Children’s Day. The date is may 5^th.

Me: Yeah, I also interview a Korean for my first interview, she tells me that your Children’s Day is May 5^th. You know, in China, the date for Children’s Day is June 1^st.

Piao: Really? I think May 5^th is the international Children’s Day.

Me: I also think it before, but I check it in the Internet, I find that each date of country’s Children’s Day is different.

Piao: Ah….

Me: What will you do in this day?

Piao: Our parents will give us gifts, and bring us to the park.

Me: So, what will the shool do during this day?

Piao: The schol will give us one holiday duing this day.

Me : Is there any activities in school, in China, the schools always organize the children together to dance and sing.

Piao: No, there is no activities in school.

Me: What religious holidays or other cultural events do you or others celebrate?

Piao: Christmas Day ,Esten Day and Buddhist Day, and several other Day, I can not remember them clearly. During these days, the school always give us holidays. During Buddhist Day, people who have religious beliefs always go to temple to do some pray. And the date of this day is April 8^th, the date is different for every year.

Me: Really? The school will give you holidays during some western holiday like Christmas Day to celebrate it? In China, we have no holiday during these days, it is different. And in China, every month always have two buddhist day.

Piao: Oh, I forget the new years day, there are two new year day, other is lunar new years day. It is important than new years day.

Me: Lunar? I can not understand it.

Piao: In China, you always have the Lunar new year day. You should know. The new years day always is the first day of one year.But lunar new years day is….

Me: Oh, I know. So how many holidays you have to celebrate the lunar new years day?

Piao: School always give the student 3 days to have a rest, but company always give them about 5 days.

Me: I think it is different with China, Chinese pay more attention at this day, students always have  30 days, and company always give them 7 days or more.

Piao: Your holidays is more than ours.

Me: What different mode of transportation are used in your country?

Piao: subway, train, bus, taxi and car. I think every country has the similar transportation.

Me: yeah.

Piao: There are many subways in Korea, it is convienent.

Me: En, have you been China before?

Piao: No, but I really want to go, because I like Chinese food so much.

Me: Oh, really? Do you like spicy food? My hometown is famous for spicy food.

Piao: Yeah, I like spicy so much, espically the beef noodles, there are large piece of beef on the noodles soup, it is so delicious. I eat it at New York’s chinatown. The chinese restaurant in there is not good, I find that the taste always are sweet, I do not like it.

Me: Yeah, the chinese restaurant in there is not good, the taste is similar to American taste. It is not spicy. But in city, there is a restaurant, their food is spicy, you can try it next time.

Piao: Ok, you know? Korea food is very different with chinese food, even both of us eat rice. But the rice is different, our rice is more sticky and heavy, chinese rice is more light, just like the rice at cash wise there. When we have the meal. We always have rice, soup, kimchi and many other food.

Me: Yeah, I know, in China, there are some korea restaurant, I find there always have many dishes on the table.

Piao: Yeah, In China, the people always cook all of the food before we have the meal, but in korea, we can cook it in the table like BBQ. And in korea, we always eat rice for the breakfast, even it is not convient.

Me: Oh, in China, the noodle always as our breakfast. Do you have many stess when you are a child in the school?

Piao: Yeah, we have, not because we have many homework, we have a lot of stress because we have a lot of exams.

Me: How do you think about SCSU?

Piao: I think this is a good place to study Englis, there is countryside, there are few korea, I need to speak english every day.

Me: But don’t you think there is so boring, we hardly have the entertainment.

Piao: Yeah, it is boring, but it is a good place for us to study.
